In the traditional Malay house, there is a clear definition of architectural elements and can be categorized into three main zones. The top zone, which covers the roof element, the middle zone for wall and the bottom zone which is the floor.
BASEMENT
The footing are made by concrete and size is 600mm x 600mm. The column is install at above the footing, are made by local tropical rainforest hardwood. Such as Cengal, Merbau, etc.
They raise up the main building 1200mm from the floor level to avoid flood waters and the animals or insect from coming in to their house, and also the building floor is raise up far away from the ground level can cool the interior house temperature, because the hot air from the earth will not reach the house directly.

A special part in this traditional malay house is that they have two type of ceiling construct method, this exposed ceiling is made by hard wood rood truss, hard wood batten and clay roof tiles,
